Tert-Butyl Methyl Ether / MTBE

Tert-Butyl Methyl Ether is mainly used as a gasoline additive, with excellent knock resistance, increase octane number, and can also be cracked to produce isobutene. It has good miscibility with gasoline, less water absorption and no pollution to the environment. It can be used as an analytical solvent and extraction agent, and it can be used as a removal agent in chromatography, especially in high pressure liquid chromatography, and form azeotrope with some polar solvents such as water, methanol and ethanol. Mtbe also has a mild anesthetic effect.
